2023 We swapped our breed from a traditional angus to a relatively new breed, Speckled Park. We practice intensive rotational grazing. For winter feeding we feed hay and a male-sterile BMR sorghum silage. That’s a mouthful to simply say it allows us to maintain a grass-fed status. We do use feed to move animals and to train them to be calm while handling; it is not used as a supplement, weight gain. We use a Non-GMO, no corn and no soy product by Tucker Milling. We don’t use any growth hormones. We reserve the use of antibiotics to preserve animal life.
We run Katahdin X Dorper herd. We started out with Katahdin for their parasite resistance. We were not happy with their finishing qualities. This is our second year to have a Dorper ram; we could not be happier with the finished carcasses. Our sheep are rotationally grazed. Like the cows, we use Non-GMO, no corn and no soy feed from Tucker Milling. We use it to move sheep and ease handling. We don’t use growth hormones. Antibiotics are reserved to preserve animal life.
We run a Yorkshire cross. We enjoy the finished product, but we are looking to move into the Idaho Pasture Pig (IPP) breed for their better pasture grazing. Our pigs have 3 acres of pasture and nut trees, and a pond. We feed Tucker Millings Non-GMO no corn and no soy swine feed.
We raise Freedom Ranger chickens. Our chickens are kept in a chicken tractor and moved daily. This breed is a strong forager. We provide Tucker Milling Non-GMO, no corn and no soy feed. We have been very pleased with the finished product.
